A Ghost In A Machine

When I was a young painter I asserted "I want to paint the truth!"

In the cradle of comfortable naivité this meant pursuing realism. As a slightly less young painter I've come to realize that all truths are relative and mystery outweighs the known. An artist must loosen his grip. Canvas and oil happen to be perfect materials for the alchemy of making real the unreal.
